How to organize PDF

  1. 1

    Open your PDF

Drop a PDF onto 'Drop a PDF here' or click to choose it. A thumbnail grid of every page appears in the options panel.

  2. 2

    Rearrange the pages

Use the left and right arrow buttons under each thumbnail to move a page earlier or later. The grid updates instantly so you can see the new order.

  3. 3

    Rotate, copy or remove

Click the rotate button to turn a page 90 degrees clockwise, the copy button to duplicate it, or the trash button to delete it. 'Reset order' undoes all your changes.

  4. 4

    Save the organized PDF

Click 'Organize PDF', then 'Download'. The new file ends in '-organized' so you can tell it apart from the original.

Reorder, rotate and tidy PDF pages visually

Sometimes a document is complete but out of order. A scanned report where page 7 landed at the end, a proposal where the pricing section should come before the timeline, a set of slides that needs one chart repeated. Organizing lets you see every page as a thumbnail and fix its position, orientation and presence in one place.

Each thumbnail carries a small toolbar. Arrows move the page one slot left or right. The rotate button turns it a quarter turn clockwise, and pressing it again keeps turning. The copy button duplicates the page. The trash button removes it. The page number printed under each thumbnail always refers to its position in the original file, which makes it easy to keep track while you shuffle things around.

Everyday uses

  • Fixing scan order. Pages fed in the wrong sequence can be put right without rescanning.
  • Restructuring a report. Move an executive summary to the front or push appendices to the back.
  • Preparing a print job. Duplicate a sign-in sheet or a form so every attendee gets a copy.
  • Cleaning up mixed orientation. Rotate landscape tables so they read correctly alongside portrait text.
  • Removing clutter. Delete blank pages and separators while you are already reviewing the layout.

Tips for working efficiently

Start with the big moves. Get major sections in the right order first, then handle rotation and deletion. On long documents, it is often faster to delete unneeded pages with Delete pages before organizing, so the grid is shorter.

If the whole document simply runs backwards, which is common with some scanners, Reverse PDF flips everything in one click. If every page needs the same rotation, Rotate PDF applies it in bulk faster than clicking each thumbnail.

The organizer always keeps at least one page, so the delete button on the final remaining page is disabled.

Everything stays in your browser

Organizing a PDF here does not involve a server. The thumbnails you see are drawn locally from your file, and when you press the button, a JavaScript engine running inside the page assembles the new document in memory. Your PDF is never transmitted, which is reassuring when the pages include financial figures, personal records or unreleased work.

After the page has loaded, you can lose your connection and keep going. The tool is free, requires no sign-up and adds no watermark.

Limits to keep in mind

The organizer handles one PDF per session, up to 200 MB. Rendering thumbnails for very long or image-heavy documents takes memory and time, so a desktop browser gives the smoothest experience on big files. Rotation is applied as page orientation, which keeps text sharp and does not re-render content.

Pull a subset of pages into a new file with Extract pages. Combine several documents before organizing them with Merge PDF. And if individual pages need turning without any reordering, Rotate PDF is the quicker route.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rearrange pages in a PDF?

Add your file, then use the arrow buttons below each page thumbnail to move it left or right in the sequence. When the order looks right, click 'Organize PDF' and download the result.

Can I rotate and delete pages in the same step?

Yes. Each thumbnail has buttons to rotate, duplicate and delete that page. All the changes are applied together when you click 'Organize PDF'.

Can I duplicate a page?

Yes. The copy button inserts an identical page right after the original. You can then move the copy anywhere in the document.

Can I organize pages using only the keyboard?

Yes. Every control under a thumbnail is a regular button with a descriptive label, so you can reach it with Tab and press it with Enter or Space. Screen readers also announce the new position after a move.

Is my PDF uploaded while I organize it?

No. Thumbnails are rendered and the final file is built inside your browser. The document stays on your device from start to finish.

What if I make a mistake?

Press 'Reset order' to return every page to its original position and rotation. Your source file is never modified, so you can also start over at any time.

Can I organize pages from several PDFs together?

This tool works on one PDF at a time. Combine your files first with Merge PDF, then open the merged document here to arrange individual pages.
