Common questions

My PDF says it is password-protected. What now?

Enter the password when asked — it is used only in your browser. If you don’t know it, ask the sender; we can’t (and won’t) bypass protection.

The tool says my file is damaged.

Try opening it in another viewer. If it opens there, re-save it (“Print to PDF” works well) and try again. If it doesn’t open anywhere, the file itself is broken.

A large file is slow or the tab crashes.

Everything runs on your device, so very large files depend on available memory. Close other tabs, use a desktop browser, or split the file first.

Can I use the tools offline?

Yes. Once a tool page has loaded, it keeps working without a connection.

Organize

Merge PDF

Is it safe to merge PDFs online with this tool?: Yes. The merging happens inside your own browser tab, so your documents are never sent to a server. Nobody else can see the files, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
How many PDFs can I combine at once?: You can merge between 2 and 20 files in a single batch. Each file may be up to 200 MB. If you need more than 20, merge them in groups and then combine the results.

Split PDF

How do I split a PDF into separate pages?: Choose 'Every page' as the split mode and click 'Split PDF'. You get one file per page, named with the original file name and the page number. Download them individually or as a ZIP.
Can I split a PDF into chunks of a fixed size?: Yes. Select 'Every N pages' and set 'Pages per file' to the chunk size you want, for example 10. The last file simply holds whatever pages remain.

Extract pages

How do I save only certain pages of a PDF?: Enter the pages you want in 'Pages to extract' and click 'Extract pages'. The tool builds a new PDF containing only those pages and leaves your original file untouched.
What page range formats are supported?: Use single numbers, dashes and commas, for example 2, 4-7, 10. A range with no end, like 8-, runs to the last page, and one with no start, like -4, begins at page 1.

Delete pages

How do I remove a page from a PDF without Acrobat?: Open this tool in any modern browser, add your PDF and type the page number into 'Pages to delete'. Click 'Delete pages' and download the result. No desktop software or plugin is needed.
Can I delete several pages at once?: Yes. Combine single pages and ranges in one entry, such as 1, 4-6, 9. All of them are removed in a single pass.

Organize PDF

How do I rearrange pages in a PDF?: Add your file, then use the arrow buttons below each page thumbnail to move it left or right in the sequence. When the order looks right, click 'Organize PDF' and download the result.
Can I rotate and delete pages in the same step?: Yes. Each thumbnail has buttons to rotate, duplicate and delete that page. All the changes are applied together when you click 'Organize PDF'.

Rotate PDF

How do I rotate a PDF and save it permanently?: Choose an angle, click 'Rotate PDF' and download the result. The new orientation is written into the file itself, so it opens the right way in every PDF reader, not just in your browser.
Can I rotate only one page of a PDF?: Yes. Enter that page number in the 'Pages' field, for example 4. Only the pages you list are turned, and the rest stay as they are.

Reverse PDF

How do I reverse the page order of a PDF?: Add the file and click 'Reverse PDF'. The tool writes a new document with the pages running from last to first, and you download it straight away.
Why would my scanned PDF be in reverse order?: Many document feeders scan the top sheet first, and if the stack was loaded face up, the last page ends up first in the file. Reversing it restores the reading order in one step.

Insert blank pages

How do I add a blank page to a PDF?: Enter the page number the blank should follow in 'Insert after pages', click 'Insert blank pages' and download. For example, typing 3 places an empty page between pages 3 and 4.
Can I add a blank page after every page?: Yes. Leave 'Insert after pages' empty and the tool inserts one blank after each existing page. A 10-page file becomes 20 pages.

N-up PDF

How do I print multiple PDF pages on one sheet?: Choose how many pages you want per sheet, pick A4 or US Letter, and click 'N-up PDF'. Print the resulting file normally and each sheet will already contain several pages.
What layouts are available?: Two pages per sheet sits side by side on a landscape sheet. Four pages use a 2 by 2 grid, six use 2 columns by 3 rows, and nine use a 3 by 3 grid, all on portrait sheets.

Crop PDF

How do I crop a PDF page?: Enter how many millimeters to trim from the top, bottom, left and right edges, choose the pages, and click 'Crop PDF'. Download the result to see the tighter page area.
Can I crop just one page or a range of pages?: Yes. Type the page numbers into the 'Pages' field, such as 4 or 2-6. Leaving the field empty applies the same crop to every page.

Add page numbers

How do I add page numbers to a PDF?: Add your file, choose a position and format, and click 'Add page numbers'. Every page is stamped with its number, and you download the finished PDF.
Can I use a format like 'Page 1 of 10'?: Yes. It is one of the built-in choices in the 'Format' menu. You can also pick '1 / 10', 'Page 1', or a plain number.

Header & footer

How do I add a header or footer to a PDF?: Type your text into the 'Header' or 'Footer' field, choose an alignment and font size, and click the 'Header & footer' button. Every page receives the same header and footer.
What tokens can I use?: Use {n} for the page number, {total} for the total page count, {date} for today's date and {file} for the original file name. For example, '{file} - page {n} of {total}' produces a complete footer.

Watermark PDF

How do I add a watermark to every page of a PDF?: Open your file, type the text, choose a layout and press Watermark PDF. The stamp is applied to all pages automatically. There is no need to select pages one by one.
Can I make the watermark transparent?: Yes. The Opacity slider runs from 5% to 100% in steps of 5. The default of 20% is faint enough to keep text legible while still being clearly visible.

Optimize

Compress PDF

How do I reduce the size of a PDF for email?: Open the file here, keep the Balanced setting and click Compress PDF. Documents full of photos or scans often shrink enough to fit under typical email attachment limits. If it is still too big, try Strong or split the file into parts.
Will compressing a PDF make the text blurry?: No. Text, vector drawings and fonts are left untouched. Only JPEG photos embedded in the document are re-encoded, so words stay perfectly crisp at any zoom level.

Grayscale PDF

How do I convert a color PDF to black and white?: Add the file, pick a quality level and click Grayscale PDF. Every page is converted to shades of gray, and you download the result as a new PDF.
Will I still be able to select and search the text?: No. To guarantee that no color survives, each page is turned into a grayscale image. That means text in the output cannot be selected, copied or searched. Run OCR PDF on the result if you need searchable text again.

Flatten PDF

What does it mean to flatten a PDF?: Flattening takes interactive form fields, such as text boxes, checkboxes and dropdowns, and merges their current values into the page itself. The result looks the same but behaves like a normal printed page. Nobody can click into a field and change the answer.
Why should I flatten a PDF form before sending it?: An unflattened form can be edited by anyone who opens it, and some viewers display field values inconsistently or hide them entirely. Flattening locks your answers in place and makes the document look the same in every app and on every printer.

Remove metadata

What is PDF metadata?: Metadata is information stored inside a PDF that describes the document rather than being part of its pages. It commonly includes the title, author, subject, keywords, the app that created the file, and creation and modification dates. Most viewers show it under document properties.
What exactly does this tool remove?: It deletes the document information dictionary, which holds fields like Title, Author, Creator, Producer and dates. It also removes the XMP metadata stream and application-specific private data. The visible pages are left untouched.

Edit metadata

How do I change the title of a PDF?: Open the file here, type the new name in the Title field and click Edit metadata. The title is what many browsers and PDF readers show in the tab or window bar, instead of the file name.
Why does my PDF show the wrong title in the browser tab?: Browsers usually display the Title property stored inside the PDF, not the file name. If the document was exported from a template, that property may still say something like Untitled or an old project name. Setting a new Title fixes it.

Convert to PDF

JPG to PDF

How do I convert multiple JPGs into one PDF?: Select all the photos at once, arrange them in the list, and click convert. Every image becomes its own page in a single PDF. You can add up to 100 images per document.
Does converting JPG to PDF reduce image quality?: No. Your JPEG data is placed into the PDF as it is, without being re-encoded. The photos inside the PDF are identical to the ones you started with.

PNG to PDF

How do I turn screenshots into a PDF?: Select your PNG screenshots, put them in order and click convert. Each screenshot becomes one page of a single PDF. This is a quick way to package steps of a tutorial or a bug report.
Is transparency preserved when converting PNG to PDF?: Yes. Transparent areas stay transparent in the PDF, so a logo or icon on a clear background shows the white page behind it instead of a black or checkered box.

Image to PDF

Which image formats can I convert to PDF?: JPG and PNG are embedded directly. WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and other formats your browser can display are converted automatically before being added. Support for less common formats, such as HEIC, depends on which browser you use.
How do I convert WEBP to PDF?: Just drop the WEBP file in and click convert. Your browser decodes it and the image is placed on a PDF page without any extra steps. You can mix WEBP files with JPG and PNG in the same document.

Text to PDF

How do I convert a TXT file to PDF?: Drop the file here, choose a font and page size, and click Text to PDF. The text is laid out on neatly paginated pages and saved as a PDF with the same base name as your file.
Are long lines cut off?: No. Lines that are wider than the page wrap onto the next line, and a new page starts whenever the current one fills up. Blank lines in your file are kept as spacing.

Markdown to PDF

How do I convert a Markdown file to PDF?: Open your .md file here, choose a style and page size, and click Markdown to PDF. The document is typeset with proper headings, spacing and page breaks, then saved as a PDF with the same name.
Which Markdown elements are supported?: Headings from level one to six, paragraphs, bulleted and numbered lists including nested ones, fenced and indented code blocks, blockquotes, horizontal rules and GitHub-style tables. Tables are rendered as aligned text rows rather than a drawn grid.

PDF to JPG

How do I convert a PDF to JPG without uploading it?: Open this tool, add your PDF and press PDF to JPG. The pages are rendered into images by your own browser, so the document never travels to a server. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.
What resolution should I choose for PDF to JPG?: Use 72 DPI for thumbnails and on-screen previews, 150 DPI for email, chat and web pages, and 300 DPI for printing or zooming into fine detail. Higher resolutions produce larger files and take a little longer to render.

PDF to PNG

Is PDF to PNG better than PDF to JPG?: It depends on the content. PNG is lossless, so text, charts, line art and screenshots stay perfectly crisp. JPG makes smaller files and is often preferable for photo-heavy pages.
Does converting PDF to PNG reduce quality?: PNG compression never throws away detail, so every pixel is kept exactly as rendered. The only thing that controls sharpness is the resolution you choose, with Print · 300 giving the most detail.

PDF to Text

How do I extract text from a PDF for free?: Add your file here and press PDF to Text. You receive a plain .txt file containing every page of text, with no account, watermark or fee involved.
Why is the extracted text empty or full of gaps?: Your PDF is probably a scan, meaning each page is a photo rather than real text. Run it through OCR PDF first to recognize the words, then extract the text from the searchable result.

PDF to Word

How do I convert a PDF to an editable Word document?: Add the PDF here and press PDF to Word. You get a .docx file whose text is fully editable, with paragraphs and headings recognized and each PDF page starting on a new page.
Does PDF to Word keep tables and images?: Not yet. The converter currently rebuilds paragraphs and headings, while tables, images and complex multi-column layouts are not reconstructed. The text inside them usually comes through, but you may need to recreate the structure yourself.

How do I sign a PDF online without printing it?: Open the PDF here, draw or type your signature, click where it should go and press Sign PDF. You get a signed copy in seconds, with no printer, scanner or account required.
Is a signature added this way legally binding?: This tool creates a simple electronic signature, meaning an image of your signature placed on the page. Many jurisdictions accept simple e-signatures for everyday agreements, but rules vary by country and document type, so check with the recipient or a legal professional when it matters.

How do I fill out a PDF form without Adobe Acrobat?: Open the form here and every fillable field is listed for you. Enter your answers, press Fill PDF form and download the completed file. Any modern browser is enough.
Why does it say this PDF has no fillable fields?: The document looks like a form but has no interactive fields built in, which is common with scanned or exported paperwork. Use Add text to PDF to type your answers directly onto the page instead.

How can I type on a PDF for free?: Load the PDF here, write your text in the Text to place box and click the page where it should go. Press Add text to PDF and download the result, with no watermark and no account needed.
Can I edit the existing text in my PDF?: This tool adds new text on top of the page rather than changing what is already there. To hide old wording permanently, black it out with Redact PDF and then place your replacement text over it.

Redact PDF

How do I permanently redact a PDF for free?: Add your PDF, drag black boxes over the sensitive areas and press Redact PDF. Every page that has a box is turned into an image with the boxes painted in, so the hidden text and images are removed rather than merely covered.
Why is drawing a black rectangle over text not enough?: A shape drawn on top of a page usually leaves the original text in the file. Anyone can copy it out, search for it or delete the shape. Proper redaction removes the underlying data, which is what this tool does.

How do I password protect a PDF for free?: Add your PDF, type a password, choose the permissions and press Protect PDF. The file is encrypted with AES-256 and ready to download, with no sign-up needed.
What encryption does this tool use?: It uses AES-256, the strongest encryption option defined in the PDF standard. Current desktop apps, browser viewers and the PDF readers built into phones and tablets can open it once the password is entered.

How do I remove a password from a PDF?: Add the PDF, type its current password and press Unlock PDF. You get a copy that opens without a prompt and has no printing, copying or editing restrictions.
Can this tool unlock a PDF if I forgot the password?: No. It does not guess, crack or bypass passwords. You need to know the password that opens the file, and it should only be used on documents you are entitled to access.

OCR

OCR PDF

What does OCR do to a PDF?: OCR, or optical character recognition, reads the letters in a scanned image and turns them into real text. The result looks the same as your scan but gains an invisible text layer, so you can search, select and copy the words.
