How to merge PDF

  1. 1

    Add your PDF files

Drag two or more PDFs onto the drop area labeled 'Drop PDFs here', or click it to browse. Use 'Add more files' if you forgot one.

  2. 2

    Set the final order

Drag a file up or down the list, or use the arrow buttons beside each name. The document at the top becomes the first pages of the result.

  3. 3

    Merge the files

Press the button that shows your file count, such as 'Merge 3 files'. A progress bar tracks each file as it is combined.

  4. 4

    Download the merged PDF

Click 'Download' to save one PDF named after your first file with '-merged' added to the end.

Combine PDF files into one clean document

Merging is the fastest way to turn a pile of separate PDFs into a single file you can send, print or archive. Instead of attaching six documents to an email, you send one. Instead of asking a reviewer to open files in the right sequence, you decide the sequence for them.

People reach for a PDF merger in all kinds of situations:

  • Job applications. Put your cover letter, resume and portfolio samples into one attachment so a recruiter sees everything in order.
  • Invoices and receipts. Join a month of receipts into a single expense report for your accountant.
  • School and research. Combine lecture notes, handouts and scanned readings into one study file.
  • Contracts. Attach signed annexes and appendices directly behind the main agreement.
  • Scanning. Some scanners save every page as its own PDF. Merging stitches them back into one document.

Tips for a tidy merged PDF

Take a few seconds to check the order before you press the button. The file list shows the page count for each document, which makes it easy to spot a file that is too short or accidentally duplicated. Remove a file with the X button beside it.

Rename your source files with a leading number, such as 01-cover.pdf and 02-report.pdf, before adding them. That way they usually land in the list in the right order from the start, and you rarely need to rearrange anything.

If some pages end up sideways after merging, open the result in Rotate PDF to fix them. If the finished document is too heavy to email, run it through Compress PDF. For long reports, Add page numbers afterwards so readers can find their way around the combined file.

Your files stay on your computer

Most online mergers ask you to upload documents to a remote server and wait for the result to come back. This one works differently. When you open the page, your browser loads the PDF engine as ordinary JavaScript. The files you add are read straight from your disk into memory, combined there, and handed back to you as a download.

Because the work never leaves your machine, there is no upload queue, no server copy and nothing to delete later. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has finished loading, and merging will still work. That makes the tool a sensible choice for contracts, medical records, tax forms and anything else you would rather keep to yourself.

Limits worth knowing

The merger is free with no sign-up, and it accepts up to 20 files per batch with a maximum of 200 MB per file. Very large merges rely on your device's available memory, so an older phone may struggle with several hundred-megabyte scans where a desktop computer would not.

Form fields, bookmarks and similar interactive extras may not carry over exactly as they were in each source file. The visible page content is what the merger is designed to preserve. If you need to reorder individual pages rather than whole files, merge first and then use Organize PDF to fine-tune the page sequence.

Merging is often one step in a longer workflow. Break a large document back into parts with Split PDF. Turn photos into pages you can merge with JPG to PDF. Rearrange, rotate or drop individual pages with Organize PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to merge PDFs online with this tool?

Yes. The merging happens inside your own browser tab, so your documents are never sent to a server. Nobody else can see the files, and nothing is stored after you close the page.

How many PDFs can I combine at once?

You can merge between 2 and 20 files in a single batch. Each file may be up to 200 MB. If you need more than 20, merge them in groups and then combine the results.

Can I change the order of the files before merging?

Yes. Drag any file to a new spot in the list, or use the up and down arrows next to its name. The order you see is exactly the order the pages will appear.

Will merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

If a file is locked, you will be asked to enter its password before the merge runs. The password is only used on your device to open the file. The merged output is not password protected.

Do I need to create an account?

No. The merger is free and requires no sign-up, email address or installation. Open the page, add files and download the result.

Can I merge only certain pages from each file?

The merger always includes every page of every file. To pick specific pages, run Extract pages on each source first, or merge everything and then remove what you do not need with Delete pages.
